Current affairs: "Events of political or social interest and importance happening in the world at the present time."

From Lexico

The title of this blog alone should suggest that this blog is about current affairs. I mean the title The Free State suggest that this blog is based on a certain political philosophy and therefor interested in current affairs and public policy. Not the only issues that this blog is interested and covers, but that's why I got into the blogging business 10 years ago, because I wanted to blog and write about current affairs and have my own platform to do that.

So why am I'm interested in current affairs and public policy and what government does always at our expense and sometimes at our benefits, is really the real question here. I believe that anyone who ever pays for something that they receive or pays for something that they're required to do under law, which is what government forces us to do under law for everything that it does, should be interested in public affairs, simply because we're required as citizens or residents of the United States to pay for everything that government either does for us or does to us. And I'm a public policy and American history junky who finds these issues and fascinating, as well as the people who are involved in them.

For anyone who says they love what's called reality TV and finds current affairs and event boring and just for nerds, should also be interested in current and events, because they're paying for it (whether you're aware of that or not) but also because current affairs and public policy is the real reality TV in America and the rest of the world, where you really get to see what people are like on the fly and real time.  Instead of just looking at people who are either drunk, acting out, crazy, looking for their own fame and wealth, or a combination of all those things, which is what so-called reality TV actually is.
